Maidenform Project

The Maidenform Project is a series of collages that draw on images advertising , comics and graphic art from the late 19th century to the early 1960s. Specifically, they address the social construction of the female form.

Much of what I am doing with these collages is intended by me as being playful. This is particularly the case with my taking the collages from of Max Ernst in his 1929 novel The Woman with 100 Heads and Une Semaine de Bonte the 1934  work Une Semaine de Bonte.

Listed below various topical collage groups in this series that can be linked to. They include:

  1. Variations, Reworks and Extensions of Max Ernst’s Une Semaine de Bonte
  2. Variations, Reworks and Extensions of Max Ernst’The Woman with 100 Heads
  3. Cold War Follies
  4. Relocating the Maidenform Lady
  5. Art History 101
